Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Is the ASISA Academy accredited?

A

Yes. The ASISA Academy is accredited with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) which is the SA government authority that oversees all occupational qualifications from design, to delivery, to assessment and finally certification. This means the Academy may offer full qualifications registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). A full qualification is a learning programme that is weighted at a minimum of 120 credits and pegged at a specific level on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

The Academy is also an approved CPD learning provider for Batseta Council of Retirement Funds for South Africa, the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) and the Financial Planning Institute (FPI). This means delegates who participate in our Retirement Fund Trustee Education workshops, the UCT Life Insurance Claims Assessors Short Course and certain Blitzcamps can earn CPD points.

Q

What SAQA qualifications is the ASISA Academy accredited to offer?

A

The Academy is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) to offer:

  • The Financial Markets Practitioner (FMP) Learnership: This learnership is based academically on the newly revised Occupational Certificate: Financial Markets Practitioner (NQF ID 117238) - the first NQF Level 7 occupational qualification and learnership specifically designed for the investment management industry. Q

Can I earn CPD points by participating in ASISA Academy Courses?

A

Yes. Delegates who are members of professional bodies like Batseta, SAICA, IISA, the FPI, and the HPCSA may log the hours spent in training with the ASISA Academy and claim CPD points. Certain of our Blitzcamps have been registered with the Financial Planning Institute (FPI) as CPD credit-bearing courses for FAIS purposes. For more information on these Blitzcamps, click here.

Q

Can I complete a UCT course with the ASISA Academy?

A

We have short courses which we deliver in partnership with UCT as officially endorsed UCT non-credit bearing short courses. Delegates receive a joint UCT and ASISA Academy certificate upon successful completion of these courses. For more information on these courses, click here.

We also offer the CIS & IMACS short courses as bespoke in-house courses on request. In the case of bespoke courses that are customized or of a shorter duration, they are not delivered as UCT endorsed courses.
